Founded in 1999,
Brilliant Star School is a private non-profit school serving the needs
of children ages 18 months through the elementary years on the
beautiful island of Saipan, United States Commonwealth of Northern
Mariana Islands. Our mission is to provide an environment that will
help children develop four key qualities: global understanding, service
to humanity, exemplary character and a creative mind.
In August 2001 the school moved to its new one acre campus on Navy
Hill. The campus includes beautifully renovated buildings, for the
Toddler program (18 months - 3 years old), for the Primary programs
(3-6 years old), for the lower Elementary program (6-9 years old), and
for the upper Elementary program (9-12 years old).
Brilliant
Star School uses an internationally acclaimed curriculum
and teaching approach that leads each child to their
highest
academic potential, and to their fullest development as a human being.
Features of the
curriculum include:
- An individualized educational
plan for each child designed to discover and develop each child's
talents and capabilities
- Active research and discovery
resulting in a deep conceptual understanding of subjects and a passion
for learning
- Multi-age
classrooms allowing teachers and students to act as collaborators in
the educational journey, resulting in respect, empathy, compassion and
empowerment of students
- A child-centered learning
environment leading children to develop the highest levels of
initiative and self-motivation.
Brilliant Star School uses experienced teachers
trained in the Montessori method to implement the curriculum.
Our
goal is to ensure that each child exceeds national and international
standards of educational excellence in all subject areas. Children are
tested regularly, and the course of study is individualized and
adjusted in order to ensure the highest academic standards.
The
teachers communicate the child's progress to parents clearly in a way
that is meaningful to parents and encourages parental involvement in
the child's classroom and education.
